In 1995, Robert-Jan started to work part time for a Dutch tour company specialized in individual bicycle tours. In this job, he was (and still is) cycling in more than 20 countries all over Europe and in several Asian countries such as Thailand, Laos and Vietnam for searching new cycling routes.
After graduated from the University of Groningen in Geography of Development Countries in 2000, Robert-Jan became project leader in a EU supported GIS-project, called Augilath, for strengthening decision and policy making in Asian Urban Area’s, based in a small town, 60 kilometer north of Bangkok.
After this project was finished in 2002, he decided to stay in Thailand, based in Chiang Mai and working as a tour leader for a Dutch travel agency. Since that time, he leaded dozens of tourist groups through Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, India, Nepal and Tibet, including cycling tours. In 2005, he moved to Luang Prabang, his favorite town in the Southeast Asian region, to set up a company specialized in bicycle holidays. Since that time, hundreds of foreign cyclists enjoyed his biking holidays in Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. The huge experience in the field of tourism in general, and cycling holidays in particular, stands for guaranteed satisfaction for everyone who likes to come to Laos for a bicycle holiday. |
